The following is request by the president of the Southern Scrabble League

Dear all,

I am writing to call for a special general meeting of Scrabble Clubs in Sri Lanka to be held on Monday the 27th of February at 8.00 pm online as a zoom meet. The zoom link will be sent later. The purpose of this meeting is to elect office bearers for a new national scrabble association. A separate email will be sent with details of the nomination process.

We hope to pass a resolution at the meeting that the newly formed association will be registered with the Ministry of Sports as a federation. This will provide us with a legal framework to organize Scrabble tournaments and events in Sri Lanka. As you are aware no person may represent the country without ministry approval and ministry approval requires a federation.

Another resolution will be passed adapting the initial constitution of the new national association.

Additionally, we will be resolving to open a bank account for the national association, with the treasurer and one of the president or vice president being signatories.

We hope that you can attend this important meeting to help the future of Scrabble in Sri Lanka. I apologize for the short notice however there is a need for urgent action due to the upcoming deadline for the World Scrabble Championship applications and also an upcoming Sri Lanka University Sports Association meeting.
